Nothing hurts more than a broken heart. Pamela knew it wasn’t ex

Nothing hurts more than a broken heart. Pamela knew it wasn’t exactly true but she also knew that, right in the moment, she couldn’t shake the pain. She had given all of herself to her relationship with Donald and he had trounced all over her feelings like she had never really mattered to him at all. What bothered her the most was that she just couldn’t get past the hurt – after all, Donald had walked out months ago and here she was, still alone on a Saturday night, wondering what she had done wrong.
“Snap out of it, woman!” she would tell herself, over and over, but nothing seemed to help. Lately, she’d signed up on several free dating sites. Her friends had assured her that creating some interesting profiles would help her to meet some equally interesting people. So far, she’d met a couple of nice guys but nothing serious. “I guess free dating sites aren’t going to get me a proposal!” she’d laugh to herself, sometimes feeling that she was just wasting her time.
Pamela was a very outgoing and successful woman. She was actually the envy of many of her peers because she had always known she wanted to be a lawyer and she’d never strayed from the pursuit of her dream. Not only did she succeed at a law career but she was also the youngest female to ever make partner in her firm. She was incredibly intelligent which, in the dating world, made her intimidating. Pamela hated that she was not the first woman that men thought of when they wanted a quiet evening and a candle light dinner with someone special. Now if they wanted to debate current events or wanted someone with a brain to accompany them to a business function, Pamela was their gal. It had gotten really old. It was also part of the reason she’d turned to free dating sites.
When she signed up and created profiles on free dating sites, Pamela never mentioned her career. She would post about her interests and hobbies and only posted casual photos. There would never be a photo of her in business suit. She didn’t want to meet a man that would challenge her at every turn. She just wanted to meet someone that would share the things she enjoyed and make her feel special… wanted… and, hopefully someday, loved. For a woman at her station in life, it felt almost weak to want those things. In the workplace, she was in a position of power and authority. In private, she was a woman with a truly broken heart that just wanted someone to care. As she logged in to one of the sites to check for messages, Pamela told herself that there’s someone for everyone in this world and she just needed to be patient. There was a candle light dinner in her future somewhere… she just knew it.
